Licorice has been appreciated for its unique flavor for ages, with its name coming from the greek “glukurrhiza”, meaning “sweet root”. Licorice root is most commonly known as the flavoring agent of liquorice candy, but that’s not always the case! Licorice root can also be used to flavor all kinds of things, from food and beverages, to tobacco products, especially in parts of Europe and West Asia.
Contraindications: cholestatic liver diseases, liver cirrhosis, hypertension, hypokalemia, severe renal insufficiency, and pregnancy. Consult health practitioner before use.
