What started out as an accident has turned into a staple of tea drinking world-wide. This black tea has a smoky, hearty, and robust flavor. It is made with Chinese black tea that has been lightly smoked over pine fires. This tea is an adventure for the uninitiated.
This is a 2019 lot of Lapsang Souchong from the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian province. It’s smoked in a traditional multi-layered structure built for this purpose. The fuel is knotty pine (including roots) for maximum resin content to give this tea a sharp hint of pine and the tea has a long exposure to give maximum smoky character.
