Chaste tree, also known as vitex agnus-castus, is a shrub with long spikes of mauve flowers and dark purple berries.

Taking chaste tree berries may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills and estrogen pills. Also, since chaste tree berries seem to affect dopamine levels, they may interact with medications for mental conditions that are meant to decrease dopamine. It may increase the effects and side effects of some medications meant to treat Parkinson’s.
