Nutmeg is the inner seed of the fruits from the evergreen Myristica fragrans tree cultivated in the humid areas of Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the Carribbean, and South Africa. Nutmeg can be used in a large variety of dishes, but works best with other strong flavors as it can easily be overpowering.
