Cuminum cyminum

$1.00

Origin: India

Cumin is widely used as a spice in curries and chilis. It can be used in both whole and ground form. Its earthy, warming effect on food lends cumin especially well to flavoring meats, soups, and stews, as well as pickles and some cheeses. Cumin is native from the east Mediterranean to South Asia.

Warning: There is not enough research done to know whether or not cumin could be detrimental to pregnancy and breastfeeding. Also, cumin might slow blood clotting and lower blood sugar levels. It’s recommended that if you use cumin regularly for medicinal purposes, stop using it at least two weeks before a scheduled surgery because it may lower blood sugar levels.
